Århus vs. Horsens
Dear Reader, if you are interested, I am writing this summary with the
Aarhus had chosen to bat first under the impression of a wet playing field and a threatening sky. The first two overs yielded no less than 12 wides and it went from there; batsmen were out on a string – a regular total collapse (despite a lack of nerves!), the top order accrueing merely 82 runs for 8!!! This coincides with England’s Ashes performance with the bat! The only summary resistance came, albeit only very temporarily, from Calle and Nikhil. Then we were gracefully salvaged by Nick+Josh, and Thomas and Nick. Well played, fellers, I think we owe the defensible total of 154 to you.
It was a more customary bowling innings with an early wicket and tidy bowling from Mani (vertical inswing, middle stump), whereas it was another matter from Josh (short pitched variable swing, at times 2nd slip line). Horsens appeared to have a stronger than last batting order, and we were taking some heavy Flak. Still, the catches went in (on the line) and we looked pretty sharp in the field on this very muggy and now sunny afternoon. Peter C. (capt.) played a very cool hand in putting Josh back on, after a brief spin intermission with both he and Anders got wickets and cost runs. Mr. Hodge paid his respects to his very tolerant captain and team mates and checked out with two wickets before being replaced by Nick and Calle who both bowled well under these fine conditions on a newly rolled pitch and chipped in with tidiness and the living remains of the Horsens tail.
Game Over. Horsens all out for 122.
