Fredericia vs. Århus

Århus South’s 3rd straight win
On an overcast day in Fredericia, Århus (South Team) lost the toss and was sent in to bat. Alex and Nik opened the batting, though Nik departed early to a sharp catch at cover. This brought Calle in early and he started steady, having a good look at the bowling, which didn’t look to trouble him too much. Alex hung about for a little while but was out caught in the gully without too much addition to the score. Next, was Alan who came in and picked up where Alex left off in lending support to Calle, as he continued to up the run rate. As the game went on, the Århus batting lineup grew anxious, all wanting to have a crack at what looked like some pretty loose bowling. Against the flow of play, Alan was bowled by one of the rare balls from one of Fredericia’s more senior players. This brought Nikhil to the crease, who looked to score from the start. By this time, Calle was well on his way to a century, and, through some ordinary bowling and fielding, started a complete destruction mission on Fredericia
Both batsmen took full advantage, despite a few catch opportunities being gifted, Fredericia were not able to keep up. This allowed Århus to post a very good score off the 32 overs, thanks to a good effort from both Nikhil and Calle with the bat. In the end, the bowling did very little to trouble the batsmen, despite Calle’s best attempts to retire his innings with a wicket
The rain threatened, but by dodging a few showers, play wasn’t affected.
Looking to build on their confident batting performance, århus put josh and nik on to open the bowling. Josh started some intimidating bowling, with a few short balls troubling the batsmen, before a length ball removed middle stump to complete a wicket maiden in opening over. Both bowlers were able to stay on top of the batting, with few runs being scored of edged shots. Nik followed up with a wicket in his 4th over. The batting pair then put their heads down, and looked content to defend against tight bowling. A double change brought nikhil and peter on to bowl, with little change to the run rate. Allen and thomas combined to take two catches each, to reverse Århus’ current fielding form and ensure that any chance of fredericia making a good score was now gone
Allen came on to bowl, with Jens at the other end, picking up 2 wickets and ending the game. A convincing victory to Århus in the south division. Fredericia all out, 90.
